We envision a society that is literate about science, public health and social development issues.
Mission
We are dedicated towards ensuring public understanding of science, public health and social development - related research through promotion of excellence in science, public health and social-sector development journalism. We develop appropriate communication strategies for health promotion, scientific literacy, policy development and program implementation.
DEVCOMS Network’s mission is implemented through three approaches: capacity building for journalists; fostering linkage between the media, scientists, civil society, policy makers and other development sector as well as through public education and promotion of science, public health and social development related issues. In addition, we have implemented projects that cut across education, climate change, HIV $ AIDS, Maternal Mortality and a host of others.
Our Core Principles
We recognize that science, public health, and social sector development are very crucial to the development of societies as shown in wide application of science and technical knowledge to create wealth especially in countries of the North.
Besides utilizing opportunities from Information and Communication Technology (ICT), DEVCOMS uses the combination of traditional means of communication familiar to indigenous communities for promoting health, science, population, education, environment, climate change, agriculture and a host of other development issues. We aim to ensure public understanding and participation in science, public health and social development with primary focus on promoting science and public health and social sector development journalism.
