Achievement

In 2008, DevComs emerged the first ONE Africa award winner, for its innovative work with the media in Nigeria. Development Communications (DevComs) Network was rewarded for training and sensitizing journalists and editors on public health care issues, especially on women and children’s health.

DevComs and The World Federation of Science Journalists

Since 2009, DevComs has been managing SjCOOP II, a three-year project in peer-to-peer mentoring in Science Journalism. The Federation’s flagship project, SjCOOP I had the main objective of mentoring of science journalists, in Africa and the Middle East. SjCOOPII is a $4.3 million (Canadian) mentoring project funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DfID), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC).
