In commemoration of the World AIDS Day 2011 which had the theme titled “Getting to zero”, four media forums were organised consecutively in Abuja, Ibadan, Ilorin and Kaduna, to further create awareness on the issues of HIV/AIDS and also provide linkages between family planning and HIV/AIDS.

The forums served as an avenue to strengthen the already drowning voices on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, and ensure that proper linkages were made clear on the need for integration of family planning with HIV/AIDS. The decision to organise these media forums to commemorate the world AIDS Day 2011 was an agreement between DevComs and NURHI, which was represented by the advocacy advisor.

The following topics were presented at the four Nigerian States:
  • Issues around HIV/AIDS in Nigeria and its link with Family Planning
  • Family Planning as a dual protection
